Sharpie Permanent Markers, Fine Tip, Black, 12 Count

Sharpie Permanent Markers, Fine Tip, Black, 12 Count - Quick Drying, Fade Resistant, For Wood, Plastic, Paper, Metal, And More
The pick

I keep a pack of these on hand because I use black markers for more than just labels, and I am tired of grabbing the wrong pen when I need something to show up right away. This is the kind of marker I would recommend to anyone who writes on boxes, tags storage bins, marks off projects, labels folders, or just wants one dependable black pen that works on more than paper. It is simple, basic, and honestly that is why it gets used so often.

What I like most is how quickly it puts down a clean line. The tip is fine enough for names, notes, and smaller handwriting, but it still has enough presence that the writing does not disappear on darker or rougher surfaces. It dries fast, which matters more than people think until you smear fresh ink across your hand or onto the thing you just labeled. Once that happens a few times, you start caring a lot about a marker that sets up quickly.

I also like that it feels like the sort of marker you can reach for without thinking. It works on paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, and the usual odds and ends that pile up around a house, a garage, or a desk. That makes it useful in a way that a plain pen is not. I use them for address labels, storage tubs, moving boxes, and little notes that need to survive being handled. The black stays readable, and the line does not look watery or weak.

The main downside is that the fine tip is not the best choice if you want bold, highly visible writing from across a room. It is called fine tip for a reason. If you are labeling a big bin that you need to read from a distance, you may want a wider marker. I also find that once the cap has been left off and the marker sits around a while, the tip is less forgiving, so I try to put them back right away. That is not unusual for this kind of marker, but it is worth saying because these are the sort of things that make the difference between a marker you like and one you keep having to replace.

I bought mine for the usual household mess of little jobs, and that is where they have earned their keep. There is always a stack of papers to mark, a box to label, or something in the garage that needs to be identified before it gets shoved onto a shelf and forgotten. I keep one near the kitchen junk drawer and one near the desk, because if I tuck the whole pack away, I end up hunting for a marker the next time I need one.

The count is practical too. A dozen is enough that you do not feel weird about using one for something ordinary, and you still have extras when one gets misplaced or borrowed. That matters in a real house, because markers have a way of walking off. I would not call this a fancy purchase. I would call it a steady one.

If you want a black marker that writes cleanly, dries fast, and can handle the kind of everyday jobs that come up all the time, this is an easy pick. It is one of those supplies that disappears into the background until you are suddenly out of it, and then you realize how often you depended on it.
